Rico Santino Quinones, known as Rico Santino is a locally-known Cleveland artist that has done records and performed with artists such as Layzie Bone, Mark Battles, Mopacino, Chxpo, and Billard. Franky Wahoo, producer most known for his gold record "Home" on the film soundtrack for "Bright" with Will Smith, is Rico's go-to producer that creates a wide variety of moods and tones present in Rico's music that gives him his exclusive sound. "As Time Progresses" is Rico's first project that is available on all streaming services. He is steadily working on new content and doing shows around the city getting more and more buzz and is easily one of the biggest artists in Cleveland.
1) What inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
I first got inspired to create music by just growing up dealing with a lot of intense situations over a bunch of different emotions that I wanted to find a way to be able to find a place in myself that where I could be my true self and no one could dictate my emotions in my music.
2) What are your thoughts on the hip-hop industry at the moment?
Hip-hop is branched off into so many sub cultures now, and has become a mainstream genre in the public eye.
3) Do you enjoy grinding it out independently or would you prefer to be signed to a major label?
Grinding it out independent is cool and I enjoy it but I wouldn't mind for the label's talent and finances to be able to push my music further.
4) What do you think goes into building a loyal fanbase?
Face-to-face interaction and real engagement with your fans, and call to actions such as come out to the show or like my new Instagram post.
5) What sort of online promo and marketing are you doing to reach your fanbase?
Pay for Instagram and Facebook ads, buying promo packages, pushing links on snapchat and various posts on different social media, making use of my posts and stories.
6) If you could collaborate with any well-known artist who would it be?
Drake, because is the biggest streaming artist as of right now and is the face of success in the music business.
7) What are your plans for your next project?
Releasing it on all streaming services, getting videos for various songs, going on tour with it, getting merchandise ready for purchase as soon as it comes out, and during the creation process I want to be in tune with myself to create the most authentic sound I can make it.
